Laser marking of products and electronic components
Serial numbers and codes are used for tracing products from the manufacturer through to the end user. QR codes and barcodes have become indispensable in the logistics industry and in trade, with international guidelines and standards like UID, GS1, ASTM, UPC and EAN generally requiring the use of codes for marking products in international goods traffic.
Laser marking is ideal for coding products, components and packaging thanks to the precision and durability it provides. Marking with the laser is gentle on the material and at the same time extremely resistant to mechanical stress, light or extreme weather. This helps keep your code markings and serial numbers legible for the scanner throughout the dispatch and transportation process.
Part labelling based on specifications:
In contrast to the design of parts in creative industries, codes and serial numbers often have to be applied to the products in accordance with customer specifications or legal requirements in industry (e.g., the automotive and supply industry, the electronics industry, medical technology, etc.).
The marking of the parts thus does not increase the profit. This means that the marking must be as cost-efficient as possible. Here, laser marking also offers unbeatable advantages, since no setup costs or elaborate and expensive preparatory work are required. No matter whether 1 or 1000 parts - the cost per laser marking is always at the same low level.
Automatic code and serial number generation with ERP connection
With Trotec marking lasers you can label your parts precisely. The laser systems distinguish themselves through their high service life. In addition, the included SpeedMark laser marking software is able to communicate with external systems such as databases or ERP systems (such as SAP) and enables a continuous code generation. Apart from brief training by the Trotec team, no prior knowledge is necessary. You can easily laser mark your products or components either by direct input or with fully automated program sequences.
Trotec laser machines are built for intensive use over many years and therefore have a particularly rugged design. Moreover, we only use components of the highest quality from leading manufacturers that ensure reliability and a consistent high quality.
"I am very happy with Trotec and my only regret is not buying a bigger system! The fact that we can now automate the process means we’re saving a lot of time. The precision of the cutting and engraving is astounding. We like our Trotec so much that we’re looking to expand its use into other areas of our production, so we’re looking to invest in a bigger machine now."- Kevin Leach - Production Manager at Walker Safety Cabinets -
"We were previously outsourcing the creation of our tags, which were screen printed or chemically etched. The step up in quality between that and laser marking is incredible. The help we’ve got from Trotec has been outstanding. Trotec helped guide us through the transition to the new software, and have been there to help every step of the way."- Tom Fleet - Research Engineer at Michell Instruments -
"The Trotec laser has improved our efficiency immensely, increasing our productivity at least 300%, possibly even 400%! The machine has been so good that we haven’t needed any significant technical support, but when we had a quick question we got in touch with the technical staff and it was answered very quickly."- Craig Davies - Manufacturing Engineer, Hawker Siddeley Switchgear Ltd. -
