A laser machine opens up a world of possibilities in the toy market. Laser cutting allows you to create delicate components for construction sets, puzzles or craf supplies for toys, while laser engraving lets you engrave a variety of details including logos and phrases. Trotec laser engraving machines are particularly suitable for processing a diverse range of materials, whether a one off project or serial production.
As wood is a popular material for toys, the versatility of a laser is a great advantage. The dark cutting edge and the brownish or whitish coloured engraving serve as stand out design elements. This lets create high-quality, creative products for a wide range of applications.
A laser cutter machine makes the production of individual work pieces or small and large production series cost-effective and economically feasible. A precise laser cut creates custom-fit parts even with the smallest geometries. Make every toy unique through personalisation.
As wood is a natural material, the laser user must consider a number of parameters such as the density and the resin content of the wood they want to process. Soft woods such as balsa, require less laser power than dense woods and can be quickly cut. Hardwood on the other hand, requires more laser power as it is a dense wood. For MDF, a material consisting of glued wood fibers, Trotec recommends using compressed air.
The brownish-coloured laser engraving is well known, however you can also achieve a white engraving when processing varnished wood. Select the appropriate laser settings and you can achieve a white engraving. We recommend using a very low power at high speed.
Laser processing wood is a sublimation process, meaning that the solid material is converted directly into a gaseous state through combustion. Dust is also formed, which is visable as smoke. For wood processing we recommend using an efficient extraction system, allowing you to achieve perfect laser engraving and cutting results. This will also extend the service life of your laser machine. Extraction with maximum flow rate is essential when processing wood with a laser machine.
