Valentine's card
Step-by-step instructions
Make a personalized Valentine's card using the step-by-step instructions below.
Preparation
Material required
- 1 sheet of standard grade construction paper
Machine used
- Speedy 360, 80 Watt
- 1.5" lens
- Vacuum table and honeycomb cutting table
You can use any laser machine from the Speedy laser engraver series to make this sample.
Tip
If you wish to create finer cutting details, we recommend using the 1.5 inch lens.
Step by step
Step 1: Import design
First, you'll need to determine what design you want to use for the card. You may use our template linked below, or you can create your own design. Then send the job to the laser using the following driver settings.
Print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color |
Info:
The small heart shaped designs are a perforated to help you to remove the heart. You can use the heart for other purposes.
Step 2: Engraving the Paper
Depending on laser machine you are using and laser power available, your material parameters will vary. To determine your paremeters, you may need to perform a few tests. Once you've determined them, adjust your material parameter settings. We used several parameters that were optimized for the fast and slow cutting, for light and deep engraving, and for scratching.
LASER PARAMETERS:
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
black | Engrave CO2 | 17 | 20 | 500 |
red | Engrave CO2 | 25 | 20 | 500 |
blue | Cut CO2 | 12 | 1 | 1000 |
cyan | Cut CO2 | 5 | 1 | 1000 |
green | Cut CO2 | 24 | 2 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-OFfset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | +3 mm | High quality |
1 | on | - | High quality |
1 | on | - | - |
1 | on | +4 mm | - |
1 | on | - | - |
Info:
Next you should cover the rest of the engraving area. This will help you achieve full vacuum to hold the paper in place.
Step 3: Cleaning
Once you're finished processiong, you can gently remove the dust with a damp cloth. Make sure that the cloth is not too wet, otherwise the paper may arch or tear.
Inspiration
- Combine different paper colors to create a large number of variations.
- You can also use a heavy cardstock paper, and print and cut it with your laser system using JobControl® Vision.
