Step-by-step instructions
Looking for a stylish way to comb your beard? Designer Andrei Bulai, who proudly sports a full beard, has created these fantastic combs using Trotec wood. You can create them yourself by following this simple tutorial, which also includes the graphic file for download and the laser parameters used.
Laser cutting and engraving wood is a popular application. You can purchase MDF wood from our engraing supplies webshop.
Start by downloading the comb template. There are three different designs and you can create depending on the beard size! Once the wood is placed on the work surface cover the rest of the surface with paper to ensure maximum suction.
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colour | enhanced geometries, inner geometries first |
Create the parameter settings. The recommended settings will be different depending on which laser machine you use and the laser power it has available.
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
black | engrave CO2 | 55 | 50 | 500 |
red | cut CO2 | 100 | 1.8 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | 6 mm | - |
1 | on | - | - |
Once the laser cutting and engraving process is completed you should carefully remove the comb from the rest of the wood. Make sure to take care so not to break the thinner pieces. Clean the comb with a damp cloth and voilà! Your beard comb is ready for action.
