Photo engraved Menu Card

Create your own photo engraved menu card using Trotec's TroLase engraving material. Visit the Trotec engraving supplies webshop to view the full range of Trotec engraving and cutting supplies.


Required material:

Laser machine used:

  • Speedy 360, 80 Watts
  • 1.5" lens
  • vacuum table with acrylic cutting grid table

Whilst we have used a Speedy 360 you can use any Speedy series laser machine.

Important information:

  • For a detailed engraving of a photo we recommend using a 1.5" lens
  • For a good cutting result we recommend using the acrylic laser cutting grid table

Step by Step

Step 1: Cover Sheet

The first step is to either create your own design or use our template. With the integrated Photo mode of our JobControl Laser Software you are fully supported when engraving photos. Get more detailed information, as well as tips and tricks for photoengraving here:

Send your design to the laser using following settings:

Step 2: Laser process cover sheet

Set the parameters as described below. The laser parameters may vary depending on your laser machine and the available laser power.

  • Run the engraving image from bottom to top so that the dust can be exhausted. This minimises cleaning.
  • For cutting, we used the standard JobControl® parameters set for quality
  • JobControl® material parameters can be downloaded from

Step 3: Handling the material

Remove the protective foil from the pink TroLase material and put it into your Trotec laser machine. Run the laser engraving (black) and the laser cutting jobs (red and blue).

Step 4: Rhombic pattern

To make your menu card stand out we combined two different materials. Send the second graphic, the rhombic pattern, to your laser machine by using the following parameters:


  • We used the parameter JobControl® standard optimised for quality.

Step 5: Laser process rhombic pattern

Put your TroLase Thin material in your Trotec laser machine. Remove the protective foil, run the engraving job from bottom to top, and laser cut the job.

Important information:

Due to the size of the sample it is important to have very good vacuum. You can increase your vacuum power by covering the rest of your working area with paper (or another suitable material).

Step 6: Post-processing

Clean the surface and the edges of the TroLase-materials using a damp cloth. Take the rhombic pattern and apply it to the photo engraved cover. To finish add your content to the menu card and clip it with the binding screw. And voilà - your menu card is complete.


You can print the content-sheets of your menu card and laser cut it. Our JobControl® Vision laser software then supports you in cutting out the printed sheets with the highest precision.


You can also create amazing menu cards using other materials such as TroGlass or Trotec solid and veneered wood sheets.
