Step-by-step tutorial
Follow our tutorial to produce a brochure cover made from the material LaserPaper Wood. This tutorial offers a small insight into the numerous applications you can produce using the material.
For more information about laser cutting and laser engraving paper, visit our applications section.
To create this sample you can use any laser machine from the Speedy laser engraver series.
Begin by creating your design and adapt it to your requirements. You can either print your design yourself or use your preferred printer is you don't have the facility to do so. As this tutorial uses both laser cutting and laser engraving, we put a cross hair in the middle of the print file instead of registration marks. The hair cross will help you to position the job precisely.
Send the graphic for the outer shell to your laser using the below settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colours | enhanced geometries, inner geometries first |
Adjust the parameter settings as required. These will vary depending on the laser machine used and its available laser power.
Change the order of the colours in JobControl from red to blue so that the material is scratched first and cut second.
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
black | Engraving CO2 | 20 | 50 | 500 |
red | Engraving CO2 | 12 | 1.5 | 1000 |
blue | Cutting CO2 | 5 | 1.5 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | +2.5 mm | - |
1 | on | - | - |
1 | on | +2 mm | - |
Take the cover out of your laser and insert the core of the catalogue. Or if you are using a commercial printer, forward the cut-out cover to your printing representative to attach it to the catalogue.
Thanks to the wood grain, coloured prints also look great on this material. The only limit is your imagination.
