Follow our step-by-step tutorial
Follow our tutorial to create a 3D retro sign. You can easily achieve the 3D effect by layering materials.
Start by creating your own design or importing our template. You can now send the job to the laser machine using the settings below.
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colour | optimised geometries, inner geometries first |
The above laser parameters are designed for the Speedy 400 laser engraving machine. If you have the new Speedy 400 model with Optimotion, you can set the laser cutting parameter (red) to power : 50% and speed : 2%. The laser device regulates the required speed automatically.
The next step is to create the parameter settings, which will vary depending on your laser machine and the available laser power.
The protective foil should be removed from the top of the TroLase Sheet. the material can then be placed on the acrylic grid cutting table in the laser machine. To maximise vacuum, cover the remaining working area with paper.
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 35 | 75 | Auto PPI |
Red | Cut CO2 | 42 | 1.2 | 1000 |
Blue | Cut CO2 | 20 | 10 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Direction | Advanced |

As with the TroLase, the above parameters refer to the Speedy 400 model. If you already have a Speedy 400 NEW (with Optimotion) in use, you can set the laser cutting parameters (red and green) to 80% power and 1.1% speed. The laser device regulates the required speed automatically.
Now create your laser parameters. These will again vary depending on your laser machine and the available laser power.
Leave the protective film on the top and bottom of the TroGlass sheet. Place the material on the acrylic grid cutting table in the laser machine. Cover the remaining area to create the best possible vacuum.
Cut the TroGlass in two steps. During the first laser process, skip the cutting colour green so that the base plate (cutting colours red and blue) is cut first.
Before the next stage remove all cut parts from your laser machine. Then remove the protective film from the back of the remaining sheet and apply a double sided adhesive sheet instead. Place the sheet back into the laser machine (with the adhesive film on the underside). Begin the laser processing for the cutting colour green (lettering), skipping the cutting colours red and blue.
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Red | Cut CO2 | 30 | 0.2 | 5000 |
Blue | Cut CO2 | 20 | 10 | 5000 |
Green | Cut CO2 | 30 | 0.2 | 5000 |

After the last laser process, remove the individual elements from the laser machine and remove the remaining protective film from the top of all cut parts.
To attach the parts to each other, first remove the protective film from the back of the large TroLase shield. Now stick the TroLase label on the red TroGlass label according to the marking.
Then glue the two smaller TroLase plates ("N. One" and "Freshly baked") to the markings on the large TroLase plate.
In the last step, remove the protective film on the back of the red Troglass lettering. Glue the individual fonts to the upper left edges of the font engravings on the TroLase. The engraving results in a shadow that runs down to the right.
Once all fonts have been glued on, the sign is ready for use!
Use a range of colours to create unique signage! TroLase and TroGlass sheets are both available in a range of colours from our webshop.
