Anodised aluminium is a material well suited to laser engraving with both a fiber laser or a CO2 laser. Depending on the colour of the layer, this results in a good contrast and a nice, bright engraving. In addition to laser engraving, laser marking aluminium is also possible.
Depending on the requirements and application, laser engraving or laser marking aluminium is possible.
Laser engraving and marking of machine tags, promotional products and signs
Typical applications for the laser marking of anodised aluminium are high-quality smartphones, promotional items such as e.g. ballpoint pens, USB sticks, but also industrial applications such as data plates or casings in many other industries.
Industries:
Fast, flexible and variable marking of anodised aluminium
With the laser you can quickly mark anodised aluminium. Depending on the batch size or number of units, you can find the ideal laser system for your requirements from a flatbed laser engraving machine to an industrial Galvo laser. The laser is also very flexible in marking all types of marking content: Thus you can easily and efficiently engrave markings such as serial numbers, data matrix codes or other variable content. Not only can you engrave anodised aluminium (removal of the anodised layer) - you can also produce black markings on the anodised layer. Natural anodised aluminium, in particular, can be marked in all different shades of grey to a rich black. With the laser, you have countless options for marking anodised aluminium.
Anodized aluminum can be easily laser marked with MOPA lasers. It can produce a variety of gray tones all the way to a rich black. The special thing about it is that the short pulse durations don't damage the surface of the material, or just barely. The anodized layer is not removed, but repainted. Although the process is completely different from the production of annealing colors on stainless steel, the results are comparable.
Especially with natural anodized aluminum, you can create very nice markings. But anodized aluminum in other dark colors can be lasered as black. In combination with conventional engraving (or removal) of the anodized layer, there are many possibilities for marking products made of this material.
