Laser Cutting Film

The laser machine demonstrates its advantages when cutting plastic films made of polycarbonate, polyester, PET or polyimide: These are cut quickly and without burrs.

The areas of application for laser-cut films range from the automotive industry to protective films (for smartphones or displays) to design films.

The controlled melting of the plastic ensures clean cut edges without any contamination. Laser machines are particularly good at processing multi-layer films: Multiple layers such as carrier, adhesive and cover film can be laser cut in just one work process. Depending on the layer structure and the film thickness, up to 10 layers can be cut in a composite.

The Trotec laser systems have precisely coordinated axis drives and innovative control technology. These allow a guaranteed exact and fast laser cut of the material. Compared to cutting plotters, there is no material resistance when using a laser machine. Therefore, laser processing is also faster. Another benefit: The laser beam doesn’t need to be lifted or rotated like a knife. Trotec laser machines make use of this speed and accuracy advantage with very fine geometries.
