Which cutting technology and machine is the right one for the digital printing of textiles?

Entrepreneurs in textile advertising, also known as soft signage, process printed textiles – typically on a polyester basis – for a wide variety of applications such as indoor and outdoor signage, backlight signs, flexible POP/POS structures, exhibition stand construction and shop fittings, as well as flags and banners. The most common cutting technologies for these areas of application are manual cutting with scissors or a cutting table, die cutting, knife cutting and, increasingly, laser cutting.

Choice of cutting technology: Cutting die, knife or laser?

While manual cutting is limited to only the smallest production quantities – i.e. individual pieces and samples – die cutting serves the other spectrum with very high numbers of standardized contours. For flexible and cost-effective production in the medium and most-frequent quantity range from two to 5,000 pieces, a knife or laser is used for cutting.
