Founded by Andrew Gregson, Green Lab is an open innovation lab and ecosystem which allows innovators to design sustainable solutions for a variety of applications including urban food. Andrew founded Green Lab to encourage creativity, collaboration, experimentation and fun to allow people to create ideas that can put more natural and healthy food onto peoples tables.
Green Lab's aim is to produce sustainable solutions to complex urban food, water and waste challenges. In order to do this they needed a reliable solution.
Green Lab produce a number of items within the lab, including essential items for their work environment including lighting rigs, signage, enclosures and mounting boards for agricultural electronic projects.
Andrew wanted to make the lab self-sufficient and to give members the flexibility required to to be creative and to prototype their designs, as well as producing internal applications for the lab.
Andrew knew that the lab needed a solution which would not only help the lab to achieve these goals, but also to negated the need to purchase products off the shelf. The ability to bring production work in house was also a focus, as outsourcing was not cost effective.
It was these factors which lead to Andrew looking into a laser machine as a potential solution.
Our laser offers us near unlimited ways to be creative and work towards our ultimate goal, with prototypes being produced in a quick and effortless manner. We no longer have to resort to buying products and items off the shelf.
Trotec laser cutters are capable of processing a variety of material and substrates used across industries. With JobControl laser software as standard, replicating detailed designs on materials such as woods and foods is effortless and opens a wider range of application possibilities.
Green Lab now use a Speedy 100 within the workspace for both member and internal applications. A major advantage that the laser has brought to the lab is the flexibility to be creative whilst working towards their ultimate goal.
Thanks to the easy to use JobControl software, even laser novices can recreate their designs easily, while the laser is compatible with standard file formats, making it very flexible for the applications produced within the lab.
Our installation process was exemplary. We received a full day of training from our area manager to help us become familiar with the machine and the after sales support has been excellent. The Trotec team are very knowledgeable and happy to help.
Green Lab uses Trotec's plywood sheets in the production of many of their applications.
"In the lab we produce all manner of applications including internal signage, stencils and stamps, however we utilise Trotec's range of plywood sheets in the production of our lighting rigs. Plywood is a clean material and we have chosen it for its sustainability compared to other materials such as plastics.
"Trotec materials are high quality, sized to meet our requirements and always delivered on time."
