Tips & Tricks for the laser software JobControl® Vision

Laser software for precise laser cutting

Our JobControl® Vision camera registration software is a great way to produce precise details and contours on pre-printed materials, and cut materials to exact specifications. The software uses registration marks to detect and correct errors, saving you from costly scrap and rework. Below are some guidelines for creating graphics and general tips for working with JobControl Vision software.

How the software works

The software works by detecting registration marks that are printed along the image. A camera attached to the laser head "reads" the registration marks on the printed design during the cutting process and compares the "read" positions on the printed design to the target positions in the original cut file. Any deviations are adjusted automatically during the cutting process, so you can avoid errors and miscuts, and create high-quality details with maximum efficiency.

Tips for creating graphics

Creating a good pre-printed graphic is key to successful laser finishing with JobControl Vision.  Here are some tips to improve your results:

  • Separate the planes for graphics, registration marks and cutting lines
  • Make sure registration marks are circles with 6mm diameter, a black outline with a hairline line thickness, and black filling
  • Be sure you are using the settings for the printer driver in your graphics program to send your Bezier curves to the printer

Printing your graphic file

Once you've created your graphic file, you can send the planes with the graphics and the registration marks to the printer. The cutting line will not be printed.

Preparing the file for the laser

To prepare the file for the laser, you will need to send the registration marks and the cutting line to the laser. Be sure to deactivate the plane with the graphics itself so it is not sent to the laser.
In the material database, select the process type and registration mark for the color black. Then select “Print.”

Placing pre-printed materials in the laser

First, you'll need to connect the JobControl® with the laser.

Then place the pre-printed material on the plate and adjust this to the position in the laser. For this, drive the laser pointer toward the center on an arbitrary registration mark and drag this to the cross-hair in in JobControl®.

Tip: Use the preview function WYSIWYG in JobControl® to facilitate the placement.

Cutting out the file

Now you are ready to cut. First, click on “Start.”
The JobControl® Vision run screen will appear.
When the position and the alignment of the laser order in JobControl® correspond with the position of your material on the working surface, JobControl® reads all registration marks, and then cuts the order automatically.

If the registration marks on the pre-printed material do not correspond with those in the design file, you will need to "show" it the position of the first registration mark by positioning the camera with the keypad on the laser. You can do this by placing the software arrow keys or the arrow keys on the computer keyboard over the first registration mark. If the bar below the camera display is green, confirm with Enter. If the print is distorted, you must show the system the second registration mark if necessary. The remaining registration marks will be recognized automatically.
