Adjusting the air flow shutter
properly and achieving optimum suction

Depending on the application being processed, the amount of suction that will be required will vary on a case-by-case basis. The air flow shutter will assist you with controlling the extraction air flow, to achieve optimal results with every job.

Adjusting the air flow shutter

The air flow between the exhaust system and the 75-mm exhaust connection on the Speedy 300, Speedy 400 or SP500 is regulated by the Trotec air flow shutter when a vacuum table is being used.

Adjusting the air flow shutter to control the output is a simple and easy process. By reducing the amount of air flowing to the exhaust connection, the suction at the table is increased automatically, which creates a higher vacuum or increases the extraction of fumes from the table.

This leads to an improved hold on paper, films and other various thin materials. Additionally, the cutting quality of acrylic and other plastic materials is greatly improved as the result of any fumes being extracted immediately, allowing for shiny and clear cut edges to be achieved.

Atmos Exhaust Systems for Lasers

Adjusting the air flow shutter

laser exhaust system throttle

Shutter position: closed

Effects

Full suction is created at the vacuum table, and no extraction is made through the exhaust slots in the processing area.

When to use

Best suited for cutting applications.

laser exhaust throttle valve

Shutter position: partially open

Effects

When the air flow shutter opening is reduced but still open, the pressure will be increased at the vacuum table and less fumes will be extracted from the processing area.

When to use

Best suited for engraving and cutting applications that produce lower amounts of dust.

laser exhaust system throttle valve

Shutter position: open

Effects

If the air flow shutter is fully open, suction will be normal in the processing area and at the table.

When to use

Best suited for applications that produce an excess amount of dust, such as engraving stamp rubber.
