At AusRAIL 2026, Trotec will demonstrate how SpeedMarker laser marking systems support the permanent identification and traceability of rail parts and components through direct part marking (DPM).

About Project i-TRACE
Project i_TRACE is an industry-wide initiative led by the Australasian Railway Association (ARA) and GS1 Australia to standardise the identification and tracking of rail assets using global data standards.
By assigning each component a unique barcode identifier, i-TRACE supports:
- Improved traceability of rail parts and components
- Enhanced safety and regulatory compliance
- More efficient maintenance and asset management
- Reduced manual paperwork and data entry
- Greater visibility across the rail supply chain
When scanned, GS1-compliant identifiers provide instant access to a part's digital record, helping organisations improve data accuracy, support automation and make informed maintenance decisions throughout the asset lifecycle.
