Laser cut and laser engraved voucher packaging
Step by step instructions
Here, we will show you how to create an original voucher packet using Trotec LaserPaper Colour.
Preparation
Required material
- 1 sheet of LaserPaper Color dark blue
- 1 sheet of LaserPaper Color gold
- 1 sheet of LaserPaper Color slate gray
- liquid glue
- glue dots or double-sided adhesive tape
Machine used
- Speedy 300, 60 Watt
- 2" lens
- honeycomb table
For this sample you can use any laser machine from the Speedy laser engraver series.
Info
We used the 2" lens because it produces a more uniform result on large-area engravings.
Step by step

Step 1: Make design layout
Make your own design and adjust according to your preferences. We engraved the camouflage design with its three different grayscales in one engraving process. How this exactly works is described here. Send the graphic for the outer shell to the laser using the settings below:
Print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Relief | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | enhanced geometries, inner geometries first |
Step 2: Engraving process outer shell
Put the dark blue LaserPaper Color into your Trotec laser and focus exactly on the surface. Make the parameter settings. The parameters can differ depending on the laser machine used and laser power available.
Laser parameters:
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
black | Engraving CO2 | 40 | 20 | 500 |
red | Engraving CO2 | 9 | 2 | 1000 |
blue | Cutting CO2 | 18 | 2 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | 0 | High Quality |
1 | on | 0 | - |
1 | on | 0 | - |
Tip:
Cover the remaining working area with standard paper to achieve full vacuum.

Step 3: Design inner frame and "strip curtain"
Send every single graphic for frame and strip curtain to the laser using the following parameters:
Print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Vector job | 1000 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Inner geometries first |

Step 4: Cutting inner frame and "strip curtain"
Put the slate gray LaserPaper Color into your Trotec laser and cut the frame. Then cut the strip curtain out of the golden LaserPaper. You can use the same parameters for both designs.
Laser parameters:
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
blue | Cut CO2 | 18 | 2 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | 0 | - |

Step 5: Assembly
Take the frame and secure it on the inner part of the cover (where the grip hole is) using liquid glue or double-sided adhesive disks. Now take the strip curtain and apply double-sided adhesive tape on the bottom of the far left stripe, and on top of the far right paper strip. Insert the strip curtain into the cover and secure it. If you open the card, the stripes move like a curtain and are a great eye catcher.
Preparation
You Will Need
- 1x LaserPaper Colour Dark Blue
- 1x LaserPaper Colour Gold
- 1x LaserPaper Colour Slate Gray
- Liquid Glue
- Sticky dots or double-sided adhesive tape
Machine Used
- Speedy 300, 60 Watt
- 2" lens
- Honeycomb Table
You can use any machine from the Speedy series to create this sample.
Info
We decided to use the 2" lens, because it tends to produce a straight, uniform result on a large engraving area.
Step by step

Step 1: Create the Design Layout
Create your own design and adjust it according to your personal preferences. We decided to engrave the camouflage design, with three different grayscales, all within the one engraving process (more info on how to do this can be found here). Send the graphic for the outer shell to your laser machine with the settings below.
Print settings:
Process Mode | Resolution | Cut Line |
---|---|---|
Relief | 500dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colour | Enhanced Geometries, Inner Geometries First |
Step 2: Engraving Process: Outer Shell
Place the Dark Blue LaserPaper into your Trotec laser engraving machine and focus on its surface. Create the parameter settings. Please note that the parameters can vary depending on the laser machine you are using and its available laser power.
Laser Parameters:
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engraving CO2 | 40 | 20 | 500 |
Red | Engraving CO2 | 9 | 2 | 1000 |
Blue | Cutting CO2 | 18 | 2 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | ON | 0 | High Quality |
1 | ON | 0 | - |
1 | ON | 0 | - |
Tip:
We suggest covering the remaining working area with scrap paper or extra material to achieve the best possible vacuum.

Step 3: Inner Frame & "Strip Curtain"
Send all the graphics for the frame and strip curtains to your laser machine using these parameters:
Print Settings:
Process Mode | Resolution | Cut Line |
---|---|---|
Vector Job | 1000dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colour | Inner Geometries First |

Step 4: Cutting: Inner Frame & "Strip Curtain"
Place the Slate Gray LaserPaper into your Trotec laser machine and cut out the frame. Then, cut the strip curtain out of the Gold LaserPaper. You are free to use the same laser parameters for each design.
Laser Parameters:
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Blue | Cut CO2 | 18 | 2 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | ON | 0 | - |

Step 5: Assembly
Secure the frame to the inner part of the cover (where the grip-hole is) using a liquid glue or simple double-sided tape. Now, take the strip curtain and gently apply more double-sided tape to the bottom of the left strip as well as on the top of the right strip. Insert the curtain into the cover and secure it. Now, when you open the card, the strips will move like a curtain!
