Learn how you can engrave a piece of agate with your Trotec laser.
- Agate disks
- Leather band
- Speedy 360, 100 Watt
- 1.5" lens
- Vacuum table
For this sample you can use any laser machine from the Speedy laser engraver series.
We used the 1.5" lens for this sample because we wanted to engrave a filigree design.
Step 1: Import design
Make your own design or import our template. We scanned our agate disk to adapt our design directly to the shape of the stone. Send the job to the laser using the driver settings below.
|Process mode||Resolution||Cut line|
For a perfect result of our detailed graphics we used the highest possible resolution of 1000 dpi for our engraving job.
Step 2: Engraving the agate
Position the agate disk into your Trotec Laser and focus on the surface. If the stone is rounded, focus on the average value of the engraving area. Make the material parameter settings. The parameters can vary depending on laser machine and available laser power.
Laser Parameters engraving
|Color||Process||Power (%)||Speed (%)||ppi/Hz|
|1||on||+ 1.5 mm||high quality|
Due to the +1.5 mm z-offset (out of focus) the contrast is higher than engraving in focus.
Step 3: Post-processing and assembly
The pendant does not have to be cleaned after engraving. Add a leather band or a pin and your personalized agate pendant is ready.
