Trophy with Relief Engraving

Learn how to create a 3D winner's trophy with Trotec materials and relief laser engraving.


Preparation

Required material:

Machine used:

  • Speedy 360 flexx
  • 80 watts
  • 2" lens
  • Vacuum table with honeycomb cutting table resp. acrylic grid

Any other machine from the Speedy Flexx laser engraver series may be used.

Tip:

TroGlass Satins and TroGlass Metallic have a very high-end finish.


Step by Step

Step 1: Import design

You could make a design or use our own template, adapted to fit your needs. We have engraved an indent out of the base plate to hold the TroGlass Metallic ring.

Step 2: Engraving base plate

Place the TroGlass Satin Black on your laser's acrylic grid. Cut and engrave the base plate with the following settings. These may change based on the laser machine you use and the power that's availabe.

Step 3: Design TroGlass Metallic

Send the TroGlass Metallic ring's job to the laser with the below driver parameters.

Step 4: Engraving TroGlass Metallic

Place the TroGlass Metallic sheet on the acrylic cutting table and engrave it with the following settings.

Step 5: Design relief engraving

Lastly, send the jobs for the 3D wood engravings and other wooden parts to the laser:

Tip:
When doing a deep engraving into wood, it could be more practical to first cut the job and then engrave when it's over.


Step 7: Cleaning and assembling

Wipe the two acrylic pieces with a damp cloth. The wooden relief engraving can best be cleaned with a toothbrush and water. Read about some tips and tricks to properly clean your workpieces.

Apply the acrylic glue to the engraved ring on the base plate and put the TroGlass Metallic ring on it. Apply firm pressure to the ring and let the glue take effect. Next, put double-sided tape or adhesive dots where the wooden relief workpiece is going to be and then fix it in place.

After, put double-sided tape on each side of the wooden spacer and attach it to the left and right of the black base plate. Be sure to have the contact surface be rectangular to ensure that the trophy can stand upright.

Lastly, place the "winner" lettering and the matching back onto the spacers and your stylish trophy is finished.

Mix in other types of solid wood or TroGlass materials and change the trophy as necessary to meet your customers' needs.
