trolase foil laser engraving

Laser engraved trophy label made of TroLase Foil

Discover how to create a personalized trophy label using a Speedy flexx and TroLase foil.

Preparation

Required material:

Machine used:

  • Speedy 360 flexx, 80/30 Watt
  • 2.85" lens
  • Vacuum table and honeycomb cutting table

Any machine in the Speedy family can create this DIY tutorial (no fiber laser necessary)

Tips:

We did the engraving for this sample with a fiber laser, since the design is so detailed. We get a better product thanks to the fiber laser's smaller spot size. This only works with metallic TroLase foils (matte silver, brushed silver, gold, copper).

You can still process all TroLase foils with a CO2 laser.

Step by Step

Step 1: Import design

Create a design of your own or use the template we designed. Change it depending on the size of your trophy if needed. Send the job to your laser with the following driver settings:

Process mode Resolution Cut line Halftone Others
Standard 1000 dpi None Color -

Info: When you engrave using a fiber laser, be sure to have a 1000 dpi resolution. The high resolution works best when combined with the fiber laser's small spot size.

Step 2: Laser process label

Place the TroLase foil inside of your laser and then focus it. Next, set the parameters according to the below guidelines. The parameters we give may change depending on your laser machine and laser power.

Laser Parameters Engraving:

Color Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Black Engrave FLP 20 55 30,000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 on 0mm -

Laser Parameters Scratching:

Color Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Red Cut CO2 8 1 1000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 On 4 mm -

Laser Parameters Kiss-cut:

Color   Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Blue Cut CO2 9 1 1,000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 On - -

Laser Parameters Cutting:

Color Process: Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Green Cut CO2 40 2 1,000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 On - -

Info:

The benefit of a fiber laser is its smaller spot size, which means that less heat will be applied to the foil. The foil will stay flat and not bend.

Step 3: Cleaning

Wipe the sticker using a damp cloth. This is best done inside of the engraving cabinet with the exhaust on.
