Slate coaster

Use the following guide to make these individual coasters using standard slate plates. We also produced the appropriate storage for the coasters.

Preparation

Required material

6 slate coasters, approx. 3.9" x 3.9"
1 sheet of solid wood oak 23.5" x 11.75"

Speedy 100 flexx
40 Watt
2" lens
Honeycomb cutting table for wood cutting

For this sample you only can use any laser machine from the Speedy laser engraver series.

Step by step

Step 1

Step 1: Slate

Create your own design or use our already created template. If needed, adapt the graphic to the right size.

Then send the job to the laser using the driver settings below.

Print settings:

Step 2

Step 2: Laser process slate

Choose and enter the material parameters in the settings. The settings will depend on which machine and power you are using.

Tip:

For faster production, engrave all coasters in one step. Since the individual pieces are not 100% identical, pay special attention to the precise positioning of the graphic.

Step 3

Step 3: Storage

Create a design or import our template. Adapt the graphic if necessary to the size of the slate sheets.

Send the job to the laser using the driver settings below.

Tip:

Before cutting, measure the thickness of the wooden sheet and adapt the kerf if necessary. Also make sure that the slate coasters fit into the storage.

Make the material parameter settings. The parameters can vary depending on laser machine and available laser power.

Step 5: Finishing

Connect the individual pieces of the storage box and put the laser engraved coasters into it.

Inspirations

You can use any design for the slate coasters. Laser engrave logos, images or other designs of your customers. In addition you can personalize the storage box for your customers with engravings.
