laser engraving wooden stand

Wooden garden decoration

Design a nice wooden garden decoration with your laser using the instructions and template below.

Preparation

Required material:

  • Massive wood beam (we used a 30 x 6 x 6 inches beech beam)
  • Lantern
  • Candle

Machine used:

  • Trotec Speedy 400 flexx
  • 120 Watts with 2.85" flexx lens

Tips:

  • We recommend a 2.5" lens if you are working with a CO2 laser instead of a Speedy flexx.
  • Use an aluminum cutting grid table, a vacuum table or the standard engraving table

Step by Step

Step 1: Import/create design template

Import our design template into your graphics program and adapt it to the size of your wooden beam.

Tip:

We made the engraving border of the graphic a little bit bigger than the actual size of the wood beam to make up for any size differences of the wood.

Step 2: Laser process

Send the laser job to the machine.

Laser parameters

power 50%, speed 100%, 500 dpi, Air Assist on, z-offset 0.23'', HQ mode (advanced settings)

Tips:

Select these two options in JobControl® to get the best cutting results.

  • 500 dpi
  • Black and white

Important: Laser parameters can vary depending on the machine and laser power you use.

Tips:

To get the exact starting position, find the middle of the wood beam by measuring it and placing the laser there.

Step 3: Post-processing

The material requires no cleaning after engraving. Once you have finished engraving on all four sides, fix the candle holder on top of the wooden block and insert the candle. You can also put other items like a bowl on top of the wooden block. Your creativity is the only limit.
