In this DIY tutorial we will show you how to make an amazingly scary lantern for the upcoming holiday of Halloween. For this spooky lantern, we used our TroGlass Colour Gloss in Orange and Black, although you can use any colour. You will find the graphic file and the JobControl® laser parameters at the end of the page.
- 1/4 sheet of TroGlass Color Gloss black or orange
- Acrylic glue
- Speedy 400, 80 watt
- 2" lens
- Vacuum table with acrylic cutting grid
Use the 2" lens for best cutting results.
Remove the protective foil on the back of the acrylic after cutting. This prevents the material from being scratched.
Import the file and adapt or create your own design. Remove the protective foil from the front of the acrlic and place it into the laser machine.
Send the job to the laser using the settings given below.
|Process mode||Resolution||Cut line|
|Color||Optimized geometries, inner geometries first|
Define the necessary parameters. They might vary depending on the machine used and the available laser power.
|Color||Process||Power (%)||Speed (%)||ppi/Hz|
Remove the protective foil from the back of the material. Clean the pieces with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Assemble the five pieces and use the acrylic glue to fix them in place. Your Halloween lantern is ready to scare your guests!
