Creative design on gold and other precious materials
When manufacturing jewelry, a multitude of different materials is used nowadays, in particular precious metals and alloys. Traditionally, the industry has always worked with a lot of engravings (but ones produced mechanically) or with methods such as etching. While in the past an important reason to produce gold inlay engravings on expensive pieces was to personalize them or to add a meaningful inscription, nowadays creative designs of jewelry pieces, also in the area of fashion jewelry, have become ever more important. Laser engraving metals such as gold and other precious metals is quick and easy.

Traditional craftsmanship, a modern tool
Laser engraving is a modern alternative to creating designs. Whether it is to create a classical style gold engraving, engrave rings, add a special inscription to a watch, decorate a necklace or to personalize a bracelet by engraving it, a laser offers you the opportunity to work on countless shapes and materials. Functional markings, patterns, textures, personalization and even photo-engravings can be achieved using a laser. A creative tool for a creative industry.
"We recently purchased a Speedy 100 laser cutter for our jewellery department. The laser cutter allows the students to explore other materials beyond traditional precious metals - especially wood, acrylic, plastic and leather. We got some really innovative and successful products that can be produced and copied multiple times using the laser, it's a great production tool. Once the designs are done, repeating the is a very very simple step. The students are very excited and the faculity feels that the laser can bring new opportunities to the department."- Paul McClure - George Brown College - Jewellery Studies -
