Laser engraved padlocks
Have you ever seen a bridge with several padlocks on it? This is a creative and sentimental practice to symbolize everlasting love. Typically a couple adds their names or initials on the padlock, and then attaches or locks it to the bridge. Then they throw away the key to symbolize their endless love. Use the following step-by-step guide to create your own "love lock."
- A padlock made from anodized aluminum
- A piece of wood or acrylic to build a tray for stability, or some plasticine
Used Trotec Laser

Step by step
Step 1: Stabilize padlock for processing
There are two easy ways to keep the padlock stable during laser engraving:
- make a tray from wood or acrylics to place the padlock on
- if you are producing only one or two custom pieces at time, you can fix the lock with some plasticine
Step 2: Create your design and process it
You can create your own design or use our template. Then send the design to the laser engraver to be processed.
