Trays and jigs help improve your productivity when you need to laser mark several work pieces in the one job. Depending on the size of each production run, and required marking time, you may also benefit from a larger workstation. This means you can process more work pieces at a time and increase your output. This reduces the time spent manual handling. Here we use a time comparison to compare two different production options for laser marking a total of 240 metal brackets.

For the first example, we have used a SpeedMarker 700 and a tray/jig loaded with three brackets.

In the second example, we have used the exact same parameters on a SpeedMarker 1300. We have also loaded the tray/jig with 24 brackets. Across the production run totaling 240 brackets, we have demonstrated a productivity increase of 16 minutes, or 40%.

Conclusion: Increase productivity by 40% by reducing manual handling and working area

The time it takes to mark each bracket, the opening and closing of the door in automatic mode, and the manual handling of the trays all take equal time (in either laser marker). However, the SpeedMarker 1300 axes moves and take advantage of the larger working space. This takes 2 seconds per bracket. The SpeedMarker 1300 reduces the number of repetitions of loading and unloading, as well as the opening and closing of the door to 10x cycles. The SpeedMarker 700 requires 80x cycles. This comparison demonstrates the productivity benefits of using trays/jigs and a larger laser working area.
