Laser Engraved Voucher Packaging

Step-By-Step Instructions

Here, we will show you how to create an original voucher pouch using Trotec LaserPaper Colour.

You Will Need:

Machine Used:

  • Speedy 300, 60 Watt
  • 2" lens
  • Honeycomb Table

You can use any machine from the Speedy series to create this sample.

We decided to use the 2" lens, because it tends to produce a straight, uniform result on a large engraving area.

Step by Step

Step 1: Create the Design Layout

Create a design and adjust it according to your preferences. We decided to engrave the camouflage design, with three different grayscales, all in the one engraving process (more info on how to do this can be found here). Send the graphic for the outer shell to your laser machine with the settings below:

Print settings:

Process Mode Resolution Cut Line
Relief 500dpi None
Halftone Others
Colour Enhanced Geometries, Inner Geometries First

Step 2: Engraving Process: Outer Shell

Place the Dark Blue LaserPaper into your Trotec machine and focus on its surface. Create the parameter settings. Please note that the parameters can vary depending on the laser machine you use and its available laser power.

Laser Parameters:

Colour Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Black Engraving CO2 40 20 500
Red Engraving CO2 9 2 1000
Blue Cutting CO2 18 2 1000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 ON 0 High Quality
1 ON 0 -
1 ON 0 -

We suggest covering the left-over working area with scrap paper or extra material to achieve the best possible vacuum.

Step 3: Inner Frame & "Strip Curtain"

Send all the graphics for the frame and strip curtains to your laser machine using these parameters:

Print Settings:

Process Mode Resolution Cut Line
Vector Job 1000dpi None
Halftone Others
Colour Inner Geometries First

Step 4: Cutting: Inner Frame & "Strip Curtain"

Place the Slate Gray LaserPaper inside your laser machine and cut out the frame. Then, cut the strip curtain out of the Gold LaserPaper. You can use the same parameters for each design.

Laser Parameters:

Colour Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Blue Cut CO2 18 2 1000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 ON 0 -

Step 5: Assembly

Secure the frame to the inner part of the cover (where the grip-hole is) using a liquid glue or simple double-sided tape. Now, take the strip curtain and gently apply more tape to the bottom of the left strip as well as on the top of the right one. Insert the curtain into the cover and secure it. Now, when you open the card, the strips will move like a curtain!
