Vintage inspired "Ice Cream" sign

Make your own version of this classic sign made famous in the 1950's using TroGlass acrylic or anondised aluminium.


Preparation

  • Speedy 360
  • 80 watts
  • 2" lens
  • white acrylic cutting grid for TroGlass and TroLase
  • Aluminum Cutting Grid Table or Honeycomb for wood

Step by Step

Step 1: Import graphic file

Simply download the template below to get started, and edit to suit. Send the individual files for each material to the laser using the JobControl settings below.

Step 2: Laser process acrylic

You may need to adjust the laser parameters to suit the type of laser machine and available laser power.

Tip: Change the color order in the material database so that the blue fold line is cut before the red cut line.

Step 3: TroLase

You can start by downloading the template and editing the graphics to suit your needs. Then, send the artwork to the laser using the suggested settings below.

Step 5: Wood

Import the sample template and edit it to suit. Print the job to the laser using the driver settings below.

Step 7: Assembly

Start by removing the protective film from the anondised aluminium,then glue the pink and red acrylic pieces to the top and bottom edge of the aluminium sheet. Add the wood then place the TroLase, and on top place the TroGlass pieces above the cone. The final step is to glue the "Ice Cream" lettering to the marked areas of the pink acrylic. You did it! You just made your own vintage 'Ice Cream' sign.
