Preparation

Required Material:

Note: You can use any colour TroGlass you wish. Also, try using the offcuts for ornaments. Now that's smart DIY!

Machine Used:

  • SP500
  • 60 Watt
  • 3.75" lens
  • Slat cutting table / Acrylic cutting grid table

You can use any laser machine from the SP laser cutter series for this application.

Important:

Remember that every laser engraving machine is different. You may need to adjust the slots to suit the lens/machine that you are using.

Step by Step

Step 1: Import / Create the Design Template

You can import the template we have provided or, alternatively, you can create your own. Send it to the laser machine with the below settings. Remember, the settings may vary depending on the laser machine being used and its available laser power.

Print Settings:

Process Mode Resolution Cut line
Standard 500 dpi None
Halftone Others
Black & White Enhanced Geometries Inner - Geometries First

Step 2: Laser Process

Position the material inside your laser machine. Ensure that the rest of the table is covered with paper. This will maximise the vacuum power. You will need 6 side parts (2 per sheet) and 4 disks. Once the cutting is complete, you can then remove the protective foil.

Laser Parameters:

Colour Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Red Cutting CO2 100% 0.65 10,000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 On - -

Info:

The material parameters for JobControl can be downloaded here.

Step 3: Assembly

The disks need to be friction-fit into each section. Begin by placing the largest disk at the base and then work your way up.

Note: The disk with two extra slots goes at the very top of the tree and will secure the star.
