  • 1 Sheet Laser Paper Slate Gray + self adhesive
  • 1 Sheet Laser Paper Blue + self adhesive
  • 1 Sheet Laser Paper Dark Blue + self adhesive
  • 1 Sheet Laser Paper Black + self adhesive

Machines Used:

We used a Speedy 360 laser engraver for ours, but you can create this piece using any of the laser machines in the Speedy laser engraver series.

We recommend the 1.5" lens because its the perfect choice for intricate, delicate cuts on LaserPaper.

Step by Step

Step 1: Design

Open the template in your choice of graphics editing program. Customise the design to create your own unique silhouette. Next, send the five various files to JobControl with the following settings:

Process mode Resolution Cut line
Standard 500dpi none
Halftone Others
color Enhanced geometries, Inner Geometries first

Step 2: Laser Process the Paper

Arrange the colored paper sheets in order according to your chosen design. Place onto the laser table. Cover the rest of the table to increase the suction vacuum created by the extraction system. Adjust the settings below to suit the model of your laser model and laser power.

Step 3: Assembly

Choose your preffered color for the backing sheet, and then stack the colored sheets on top, in order of the design. For the example below, use the orange rectangle for the backing sheet, and then place the remaining colors in the following order:

  • Slate grey
  • Blue
  • Dark blue
  • Black as finishing

Trotec Materials

We suggest using LaserPaper for this laser cut silhouette project. This paper was specifically developed to provide high contrast engraving results and clean laser cuts. This highquality paper is available in a wide range of different colors, to suit a variety of aplications including as invitations, brochures, business cards, greeting cards and more.

  • Thin sheets of TroLase ADA can be used to laser cut spacers to be fixed in between the individual paper sheets. This will add depth and dimension to the finished artwork.
  • You can switch the orange base plate for white LaserPaper Synthetic, enabling the art to be backlit using a light.
  • Laser cut art can also make great gift cards!
