Laser Cut and Engraved Custom Corkboard

You can customise your own laser cut and laser engraved corkboard using the settings below, or use the template provided.


Preparation

Required material:

  • 1 sheet of Cork, 6mm
  • 1 sheet of MDF, 600x300mm, 6mm + adhesive tape
  • Cover material

Of course, you can also produce this pattern with all other machines in the Speedy laser engraver series .

Tip:

You can adjust the size, style and the engraving design of your corkboard to suit your needs.


Step by Step

Step 1: Design

Customise your own design, or use the attached template to suit your needs. Using relief mode, the two gray levels in the image can be engraved in two different tones in one go in the cork. Use the grayscale matrix to find the right shades of grey for your application.

We suggest the following settings when you send the project to JobControl®:

Tip:

We suggest a DPI setting of 333 for the most economical engraving speed. Because the corkboard will be viewed from a distance, higher DPI settings may not deliver a noticeable improvement in engraving clarity - but will increase processing time.


Step 2: Laser process the cork

Place the cork sheet into your laser and cover the remaining working area to increase vacuum. The large nose cone will work best with cork. Adjust the settings below to suit your laser and the available laser power.

Tip:

We recommend that you cover any remaining workspace when laser processing cork. This improves extraction, which improves the result and also reduces the risk of fire.


Step 3: Laser-template MDF support plate

Create a backing board from MDF to improve the rigidity of the cork sheet. The MDF backing board will also enable you to use wall hooks to attach the finsihed corkboard to a wall. Create the template for the backing board, and send to JobControl® with the follow suggested settings:

Step 4: Laser process the MDF

Place the MDF sheet into your Trotec Laser. Adjust the suggested laser parameters below to suit your lasers model and power:

We have used the default settings for 6mm MDF in JobControl®


Step 5: Cleaning and assembly

Finish the corkboard by using a damp cloth to clean the edges and engraved area. Glue the cork sheet to the MDF backing board.

Your custom laser cut and laser engraved corkboard is now ready for use!
