Stamps for paper bags

We show you how to create these versatile stamps that you can use to personalise and customise existing packaging.


Preparation

Required material:

  • Stamp rubber trodat, AERO+ 5mm, A4
  • Stamp trodat professional 5212, 116 x 70mm
  • Various paper bags

Machine used:

  • Speedy 360
  • 120 watts
  • 1.5" lens
  • Nozzle with small hole diameter
  • Aluminium cutting grid table

To process the stamp rubber, any machine from the Speedy laser engraver series can be used.


Step by Step

Step 1: Import/create laser file

We have provided a template for you to use. Alternatively, you can create your own unique design. Please bear in mind that if you proceed to creating your own design that you use simple designs and fonts. Using fine lines can result in excess material being removed, thus causing the design to become fragile. To learn more, check out our tips and tricks page.

Using the following parameters, send your job to the laser machine.

Step 2: Laser process of rubber 5mm

Please note that the parameters you use will vary depending on the laser machine being used and the available laser power.

Please the laser rubber Aero+ 5mm into the laser machine. Ensure that the rubber is well-secured as it will be vacuumed after each engraving pass. In order to secure the stamp rubber, follow the below steps:

  • Use an extraction system (e.g. Atmos Duo Plus)
  • Glue the rubber plate with adhesive tape
  • Use an adhesive mat 

Make sure that the remaining work surface is also covered so that a strong vacuum is created.

Laser engraving process - four passes:

Set the "Cut" to "Skip" in the parameter settings. Focus and position the laser and proceed with the first engraving pass. Once complete, use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust from the rubber plate, ensuring that it does not move. Repeat the engraving process three times making sure you vacuum after each pass.

Before commencing each pass, ensure that the laser is focused on the new level.

Laser process - cut:

Activate "Cut CO2" in the parameter settings and skip "Engrave CO2".

Step 3: Assembly

Once you remove the laser rubber from your machine, clean it with a fine brush and some water. Once dry, glue the plate onto the stamp.

We recommend testing the stamp on kitchen paper before use.

Alternative: depth engraving with 3 passes

To complete this application in three engraving passes, as opposed to four, you can implement depth engraving by using a resolution of 1,000 dpi. The higher resolution will mean that more material will be removed in fewer passes.

The time required for depth engraving is similar to the above mentioned application due to the fact that the laser needs more time when engraving at a higher resolution.

To use depth engraving, simply perform the laser processes as outlined above. Use the following print and parameter settings in three engraving passes.
