Modern fruit bowl from solid wood
In this tutorial we will show you how you can produce a beauiful and simple solid wood fruit bowl with the help of your Trotec laser. All the laser cut parts are glued together!
Preparation
Required Material
- 1 sheet of solid wood walnut 3/16"
Used machine
- Speedy 360, 80 Watts with 2.0" lens
- Aluminum cutting grid table
The fruit bowl can of course also be produced with all other machines of the Speedy laser engravers or SP laser cutters.
Important
Cover the working area completely with paper. By doing this, even slightly bent sheets become flat.
Step by Step
Step 1: Import design
Import our design template into your graphic program and adapt it according to your requirements. We used the free Autodesk Software 123D Design und 123D Make. Send the graphic to JobControl® using the following parameters.
Print settings
Process | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Cut Job | 1000dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
color | enhanced geometries |
Info:
Wood is a natural product. Its characteristics can vary. We recommend to test the parameters before you produce the work piece.

Step 2: Laser process
Set the parameters like described below. The laser parameters may vary depending on the type of your laser machine and available laser power.
Laser Parameters:
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
red | cutting CO2 | 100 | 0.70 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | - | enhanced geometries |

Step 3: Post-processing
Clean the parts while they are still in the machine and the vacuum is on. By doing this you can efficiently wipe over the complete surface. Sort the different parts and put them together.
Tip:
It is helpful to mark the front of the single pieces with adhesive tape so that you can assemble the pieces correctly.

Inspirations
- Cut the bowl out two different types of wood and mix the parts during assembly.
- Adding an engraving design or a name to the pieces creates a great effect. You can produce the bowls in advance and can add your customer's individual engraving afterwards.
