Preparation

Materials required
  • TroLase Lights foil- brushed silver (any color variation can be used). 1/4 sheet.
  • Covering material for the laser engraving table.
Trotec laser machine used
  • Speedy 360 flexx, 80/30 Watt
  • 2.85" lens
  • Honeycomb cutting table and Vacuum table

Any Trotec CO2 laser system within the Speedy family can be used to process this application. (No fiber laser required).

Tips

For this sample, we used the fiber laser source of the Speed 360 flexx because of the highly intricate elements within the design. The fiber laser has a smaller spot size, which allows for better engraving results to be achieved. Please note, this processing technique only applies to processing TroLase metallic foils (silver matt, silver brushed, gold and copper) and all other non-metallic finishes can be processed with the CO2 laser source.

Step 1

Step 1: Design and import your file

Create your own unique file design or import our complimentary template to make the trophy labels. Our provided template can be scaled and adapted to the exact size requirements of your trophy if needed. Once the graphic is finalized, send to job to your laser engraver using the following driver settings below:

Process mode Resolution Cut line Halftone Others
Standard 1000 dpi None Color -

Tip: If you are processing this application with a fiber laser machine, always use 1000 dpi resolution because the small spot size provides superior quality results.

Step 2: Laser engrave the labels

Position the TroLase foil workpiece in your laser engraver and focus the lens. Once completed, adjust the parameter settings to the requirements below. Please note, the provided settings are for use with the Speedy series laser machines and can vary based on your specific laser engraver and its available power.

Laser Parameters (Engraving):

Additional Information:

As mentioned, one benefit of using a fiber laser engraver for this application is the smaller spot size. This means that less heat is applied directly onto the material and the foil will remain flat instead of possibly bending.

Step 3: Cleaning the workpiece

Once the TroLase foil has been laser processed, simply wipe the workpiece clean with a lightly dampened cloth. We recommend cleaning the material while still in the engraving cabinet of your machine and with the exhaust activated.
