Read more about the Trotec laser processes that can be used for metallic workpieces and what to consider.
Trotec lasers are capable of a variety of standard metal engraving or marking solutions, allowing users to create a wide range of applications.
It is possible to cut metallic workpieces using a laser, but several parameters define suitability including type, thickness, quality desired, and accuracy of the cut edgesdone
Trotec laser cutters are currently optimized for working mostly with non-metallic materials. Although there are some restrictions for metallic cutting, it is possible. All applications, however, should be tested first.
In general, it is possible to cut metal with both CO2 and fiber laser. Metals such as steel or ferrous materials can be cut more easily than light or non-ferrous metals such as copper or aluminum.
In general, process gases facilitate the cutting process and improve cutting quality for most applications and materials. Gas kits (with appropriate fittings and nozzles on the work heads) are available for specific Trotec laser systems and can be used with suitable process gases, such as nitrogen.
Thin ferrous-based foils can be cut with the CO2 laser.
Copper or brass can be cut with similar performance using a fiber laser.
Our team can answer all kinds of questions about possible applications for a Trotec laser.
