For automotive components made from plastics and metal
Nowadays, part tracking and traceability are elementary building blocks for success in the automotive and automotive supplier industry. On the one hand, systems are becoming technologically more complex, and on the other, development times are becoming shorter and shorter. In addition, quality requirements are constantly rising. Automotive manufacturers and suppliers apply various alphanumeric character sequences (e.g. serial or component numbers) and complex codes (mostly data matrix codes) to their products for this purpose, with which these can be monitored and traced at any time. Trotec Laser systems are an ideal tool to be able to reliably and quickly apply these codes and other contents to almost all materials that are used in the automotive industry while achieving a high-quality finish.
Typical application areas for laser markings in the automotive industry are functional engravings of data matrix codes and other dynamic content for quality assurance and traceability on all automotive parts made of plastics and metals.
In addition to the laser marking of parts and components, which are carried out for quality assurance or traceability purposes, laser marking in the automotive sector is also performed for design purposes.
Laser marking systems are capable of permanently labeling most materials that are used in the automotive industry, with a high-contrast finish. This can be implemented through a stand-alone laser workstation or fully integrated into the production line. The SpeedMark laser software also enables a fully automated labeling process with variable data that can be retrieved from ERP systems in the form of text or a wide range of different codes for direct marking.
