The laser beam fuses films and foils in a controlled manner, producing clear and sealed edges. Using a Trotec laser machine, you can cut the smallest radiuses quickly and easily. During laser cutting and engraving, there is no pressure whatsoever placed on the material. This means that the product will turn out perfect every single time. As opposed to working with a punch or knife, laser cutting films will never result in paint-chipping.

“How do I laser cut foils and films?”

The controlled fusing of materials ensures clean, crisp cutting edges every time – there is no need to worry about fraying or breakages. The laser offers many advantages when working with multilayer films; some layers (backing, adhesive and top films) can be cut in one processing step. Depending on the structure of the layer and the strength of the film, up to ten layers can be cut into the material at once.

“Do I need to fixate the material?”

No – not manually anyway. For optimal cutting results, we at Trotec recommend the use of a vacuum table. This ensures that thin or textured materials are always positioned flat and secure to the work table. No pressure is exerted on the material during this process, and clamping or fixating is never required. This can save you time and money during the preparation of your material. It also reduces material wastage and prevents crushing and damage.

Flexible materials like banners and flags are cut perfectly every single time. There is no need for time-consuming positioning. Distortions and imperfections can be detected automatically, and the cutting path will be dynamically adapted.
