Metals: Anodised Aluminium & DuraBlack®
When it comes to laser marking metals, anodised aluminium and DuraBlack® are trusted worldwide for their durability and clarity.
- Anodised aluminium delivers a smooth, consistent surface that produces sharp, high-contrast engravings. It is widely used for compliance plates, asset tags, serial labels, and rating plates.
- DuraBlack® is purpose-built for the harshest industrial environments. Resistant to UV, heat, abrasion, and chemicals, it ensures critical information such as safety signage, equipment IDs, and product labels remains legible over time.
These materials are relied upon across manufacturing, rail, utilities, and defence industries where compliance and long-term readability are essential.

Processing metals with a laser
Anodised Aluminium
Get reliable results with minimal setup.
- CO2 lasers engrave matte and gloss premium lines directly — no sprays, coatings, or secondary steps required (contrast is better with coloured and black aluminium, silver shades deliver minimal contrast)
- Fiber and MOPA lasers deliver sharp, permanent marks ideal for compliance plates, tags, and serialisation
- Diode lasers can also be used, with darker colours producing the strongest contrast for easy readability
DuraBlack®
Simplify outdoor marking without compromise.
- CO2 lasers create a crisp, high-contrast white mark in a single step
- No chemical pre-treatment or top coat is needed, saving time and cost
- As the only laser-markable metal certified for outdoor use, DuraBlack® ensures permanent readability in even the harshest environments

Cast vs Extruded Acrylic
TroGlass products are manufactured as either cast or extruded acrylic.
- Cast acrylic is made in individual sheets, offering excellent optical clarity, durability, and chemical resistance - perfect for detailed laser engraving.
- Extruded acrylic, by contrast, is rolled into sheets, giving it more consistent thickness and easier cutting, though with less engraving depth.
Both options are engineered to deliver high-quality, reliable results on laser machines.
