Trophy with Relief Engraving

Make a three-dimensional winners' trophy using Trotec materials and 3D relief laser engraving


Preparation

Required material:

Machine used:

  • Speedy 360 flexx
  • 80 watts
  • 2" lens
  • Vacuum table with honeycomb cutting table resp. acrylic grid

You can use any other machine of the Speedy Flexx laser engraver series.

Tip:

TroGlass Satins and TroGlass Metallic have a very high-end finish


Step by Step

Step 1: Import design

You can make your own design or import our template and then adapt it to your requirements. We have engraved a recess out of the base plate to hold the TroGlass Metallic ring.

Step 2: Engraving base plate

Put TroGlass Satin Black on the acrylic grid of your Trotec laser. Engrave and cut the base plate using the parameters below. The parameters can differ depending on the laser machine used and laser power available.

Step 3: Design TroGlass Metallic

Send the job for the TroGlass Metallic ring to the laser using the driver settings below.

Step 4: Engraving TroGlass Metallic

Put the TroGlass Metallic sheet on the acrylic cutting table and engrave the job using the parameters below:

Step 5: Design relief engraving

Finally, send the files for 3-dimensional wood engravings and the other wooden parts to the laser:

Tip:
When engraving deeply into wood, it can be helpful to cut the job first and engrave the job afterwards.


Step 7: Cleaning and assembling

Clean the two acrylic pieces with a damp cloth. The wood relief engraving can be cleaned best with some water and a tooth brush. Here you can find tips for correct cleaning.

Put the acrylic glue on the engraved ring of the base plate and position the TroGlass Metallic ring on it. Press down firmly and allow the glue to cure.
Put double-sided adhesive tape or dots where the wooden relief shall be positioned and fix it.

Take the wooden spacer and apply double-sided adhesive tape on both sides. Position it on the left and the right of the black base plate. Make sure to have a rectangular contact surface so that the trophy stands upright.

Finally, fix the lettering "winner" and the corresponding back on the spacers to complete this elegant trophy.
