Name tags made of different TroLase engraving materials

When using TroLase materials and a Trotec laser, it is possible to make a wide range of different name tags. You can find out how to make these below.
Engraving materials are available at Trotec. Browse our product line at www.trotec-materials.com

Preparation

Required material:

  • TroLase Purple/White 1,6 mm L582-206
  • TroLase Burgundy/White 1,6 mm L622-206
  • TroLase Light grey/White 1,6 mm L322-206
  • Magnet for name tags
    Materials available at Trotec
  • Superglue

Used machine:

  • Speedy 360, 80 Watts with 1.5" lens

For this sample you can use any laser machine from the Speedy laser engraver series.

Important:

  • Due to the delicate design we used the 1.5" lens
  • Use the acrylic cutting grid or the aluminum cutting grid table. It reduces the beam reflections to a minimum.

Step by Step

Step 1: Import /create design template

Import our design template into your graphic program and adapt it according to your requirements.

Important:

Our template has been designed for 1.6mm material. If you are using other types of engraving materials, you will need to adapt the parameters.

Print settings:

Process mode Resolution Cut line
Standard 500 dpi none
Halftone Others
Color enhanced geometries,
inner geometries first

Step 2: Laser process

Position the wood sheet into your laser and cover the rest of the table to maximize the exhaust power. Engrave and cut the various parts.

Laser Parameters

Color Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
red cut CO2 40 0.7 1000
black engrave CO2 35 60 500
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 on - -
1 on - -

Tip:

  • We used the standard laser parameters from JobControl® optimized for speed
  • The material parameters of JobControl® can be downloaded from www.troteclaser.com
  • Start the engraving from the bottom This reduces the cleaning.

Step 3: Post-processing

As soon as all parts have been engraved and cut, you can assemble them using super glue. Finally, affix the magnet or pin on the back of the name tag. Now it's ready!
