Rubber Engraving for Stamps
A laser can be used to engrave the tiniest and crispest fonts, logos, details and even pictures directly into rubber. Using a Trotec laser system, you can create professional and high-quality stamps in an efficient, inexpensive, simple and environmentally friendly way with the highest precision. You can produce clean, detailed, quality imprints without the use of chemicals.
Using a laser machine, you can quickly and efficiently process rubber at a very small cost. It doesn’t matter if you are processing a single piece or an entire rubber plate; you can significantly reduce production time by using an automated process.
Rubber etching with laser technology has become a popular, standard method of choice in stamp production. The laser machine is also suitable for producing laser-engraved, rubber printing forms for flexographic printing.
Using a Trotec laser system, you can produce single pieces as well as series jobs in an efficient, cost-effective and flexible manner, and it’s as easy as engraving on plastic! Texts, logos, photographs and images with fine details can be engraved easily. You can take the layout directly from your usual graphics program and apply it straight to the material. Additional support materials, like films and matrices, will not be necessary when using Trotec technology. The features integrated in the JobControl® laser software – such as the automatic stamp marking process – make production very easy, shortening your manufacturing process by a fair amount.
To ensure that your impression is readable, the design for a stamp text plate needs to be inverted and mirrored. To obtain a detailed and clean impression on paper, you need to create ‘shoulders’. The Trotec JobControl® laser software simplifies your stamp production by executing all procedures in an automated fashion. There is no need for further processing.
The engraving depth of stamps is about 0.9-1.1mm. With Trotec’s JobControl® materials database, the optimal laser parameters for Trotec materials are included in the delivery scope.
Rubber can potentially be cut to any shape you want using a laser machine. In the JobControl® laser software, various options for automated laser cutting, like round, square and optimised, can be chosen.
The “link” [Stege] function enables the handling of plates. Once activated, the cutting lines are automatically interrupted at defining points, facilitating removal and cleansing.
For texts and images with delicate details, we recommend using the 1.5” lens.
Processing rubber stamps produces odour and dust. It is important to install an efficient extraction system to remove these particles and prevent damage. It is also recommended to equip the machine with a sufficient proportion of activated carbon to filter out the odours.
We also recommend engraving the plate from the top and working your way down – this will ensure the engraving quality is less likely to be affected by dust particles.
Rubber laser engraving requires relatively high power to achieve a quick and productive workflow. The more power being used, the quicker the engraving will take.
It is best to place the plate briefly into an ultrasonic bath after the laser processing. Alternatively, water, detergent and a fine brush will work quite nicely.
