Step by step
Step 1: Import/create laser file
You can use the template we have provided or, alternatively, you can create your own design. If you create your own design, we recommend using simple designs and fonts. Using fine lines can cause excess material to be removed, thus causing the design to become unstable. For more information, head to our tips and tricks page.
Send the job to the laser machine using the below settings.
Print settings:
Dimension | Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|---|
Professional 5212 or user-defined size 116 x 70 mm | Stamp | 500 dpi | Optimised |
Halftone | Shoulders | Others |
---|---|---|
Black-white | Medium | Optimised geometries |
Step 2: Laser process of rubber 5mm
The recommended parameters will vary depending on the laser machine you are using and the available laser power.
Place the laser rubber Aero+ 5mm into the laser machine. It is crucial that the stamp rubber is well secured as it will be vacuumed after each engraving pass. You can ensure the stamp rubber is properly secured by following the below steps:
- Use an extraction system (e.g. Atmos Duo Plus)
- Glue the rubber plate with adhesive tape
- Use an adhesive mat
Ensure that the remaining work surface is covered so that a vacuumed is created.
Laser engraving process - four passes:
Set the "Cut" to "Skip" in the parameter settings. Focus and position the laser and then begin with the first engraving pass. Once the engraving is complete, use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust from the rubber plate ensuring that the plate does not move. Repeat the engraving process three times making sure you vacuum after each pass.
Note: It is vital that you focus the laser on the new level before commencing each pass.
Laser process - cut:
Activate "Cut CO2" in the parameter settings and skip "Engrave CO2".
Laser parameters:
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 100 | 15 | 1000 ppi |
Red | Cut CO2 | 100 | 0.5 | 1000 Hz |
Passes | Air assist | Z-offset | Direction | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | on, maximum air assist | - | top down | optimised quality |
1 | on | - | - | - |
Step 3: Assembly
Once you remove the laser rubber from your machine, clean it with a fine brush and some water. Once it is dry, glue the plate onto the stamp.
Before use, we recommend trialling the stamp several times on kitchen paper.

Alternative: depth laser engraving with 3 passes
Depth engraving can also be carried out in three engraving passes, as opposed to four, by using a resolution of 1,000 dpi. The higher resolution will result in more material being removed in fewer passes.
It is important to note that the time required for depth engraving is similar to the above mentioned application. This is because the laser needs more time when engraving at a higher resolution.
For depth engraving, simply perform the laser processes as identified above. Use the following print and parameter settings in three engraving passes.
Print settings
Dimension | Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|---|
Professional 5212 or user-defined size 116 x 70 mm | Stamp | 1000 dpi | optimised |
Halftone | Shoulders | Others |

black-white | medium | optimised geometries |
Laser parameters:
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
