Wooden Pen Holder

Feel free to use our template and instructions to create this elegant wooden pen holder.

Preparation

You Will Need:

  • 1 sheet solid wood maple 300 x 100 x 5mm
  • Extra material to cover the engraving table (e.g. scrap paper)
  • Pens and business cards

Machine Used:

You are free to use any machine from the Speedy series for this project.

Important:

Be sure to check the thickness of your chosen material prior to starting and adapt the kerf if you need to.


Step by Step

Step 1: Import/Create design template

Create your own design or feel free to use our template. (You are also welcome to tweak our template to fit your needs)

Tip:

You can adapt the diameter of each hole depending on the pens you wish to use.

Send the job to the laser machine with the following print settings:

Process mode Resolution Cut line
Standard 500 dpi none
Halftone Others
Colour Enhanced geometries, inner geometries first

Step 2: Laser Process

Adjust the parameter settings within the laser software. These parameters can differ depending on what machine you are using and it's power:

Laser Parameters:

Colour Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Creasing: red Cut CO2 7 1 1000
Cutting: red Cut CO2 100 1.6 1000

We used the standard parameters from JobControl® for 5 mm solid maple.


Step 3: Cleaning and assembly

Take the wood out of the laser and wipe it with a damp cloth. Then you only need to attach the two pieces together.

Now, your pen holder is ready for use!
