Tip
The wide range of Trotec engraving materials will ensure that you are able to create this sample in a variety of different shades.
Step by step
Step 1: Import design
Create your own design or import our template and customise it to your requirements. Now send the job to the laser using the driver settings below.
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Vector Job | 1000 dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Optimised geometries |
Step 2: Cutting TroGlass Materials
The first step is to place the TroGlass material on the acrylic cutting grid of your Trotec laser machine and cut the individual pieces. We advise you to leave the protective foil on the material for a clean result, bearing in mind though that once the cutting is done, you will have to remove it from every piece. Always remember, the parameters used can differ depending on the laser machine used and the available laser power:
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Red | Cut CO2 | 100 | 0.9 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | On | - | - |
Tip:
In this tutorial, we used the SP500 laser cutter for cutting the black back plate in order to have a large overall design. If you do not have the luxury of a large working area, you can either reduce the complete graphic or cut a round base plate only.
Step 3: TroLase Foil
The two half circles of TroLase foil are the all-over background on which we put the individual pieces. Using the following parameters, send the half circle to the laser:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Vector Job | 1000 dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Optimized geometries |
Step 4: Cutting TroLase Foil
Using the following parameters, place the TroLase Foil (the two sheets) on the acrylic cutting grid table and cut the half circle:
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Red | Cut CO2 | 40 | 2 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | On | - | - |
Step 5: Design Solid Wood Maple
Finally, send the design for MDF and solid wood maple using the below suggested parameters:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Vector Job | 1000 dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Optimised geometries |
Step 6: Cutting solid wood
Change the acrylic cutting grid against the honeycomb cutting table and cut the maple wood using the following parameters:
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Red | Cut CO2 | 100 | 1.4 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | On | - | - |
Tip:
We recommend to use the small nozzle and a lot of compressed air (if available) for clean cutting edges
Step 7: Cutting MDF
Put the MDF plate into your Trotec laser and cut the single pieces using the following parameters:
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Red | Cut CO2 | 90 | 0.4 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | On | - | - |
Step 8: Assembly
Be sure to allocate suffiecient time for the assembly of the decoration.
Step 1: Glue the two star like base plates with the circle of TroGlass Satins. Make sure that the two large pieces are well positioned edge to edge. Step 2: Turn the decoration and remove the protective foil (if you haven't removed it before cutting). Fix the two half circles of TroLase Foil. Step 3: Take the time to apply the pieces of the different materials.
Glue it on the white base plate only when you are sure that they are positioned correctly. It is helpful to have an image of the finished graphic to hand. You will find this image in the download document provided.
Once all pieces have been fixed, you can mount the decoration on the wall using the mounting devices.
Inspiration
The possibilities are limitless. Why not be creative and create a wall clock? Simply cut a hole in the middle and insert the clockwork from the back
By combining other colours from our TroGlass materials and wood types, you can easily create a version that fits perfectly into any office, clubhouse, lounge, etc.
