Step by step instruction for your Trotec laser
The following step-by-step instructions demonstrate how to use the "kerf cutting" technique to make a wooden napkin ring.
You can produce this design using any laser machine from the Trotec Laser Speedy series.
Consider using a 1.5" lens to produce the detailed cuts in the design.
First, decide on a design. You can create your own design, or import our graphic and adapt it to your requrements. We determined parameters using our pre-tested cutting techniques for bending applications. Cehck out our tips & tricks on "Kerf Cut" to find more examples of how you can use this application.
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Vector Job | 1000dpi | No |
Halftone | Others |

Color | Optimized Geometries, Inner Geometries first |
Start by placing the honeycomb cutting table in your Trotec laser, and then attach the small nozzle to the laser head. Next, place the walnut plate in your laser and cover the remaining working surface. The parameters may vary based on the laser machine you are using and available laser power.

Send the graphic for the TroLase Foil decoration to your Trotec Laser machine using the following print settings:

Replace honeycomb cutting table with the acrylic grid cutting table, and then install the large nozzle. Insert the TroLase Foil into the laser and cover the rest of the working area.

Because TroLase Foil is very thin, it is important to closely monitor the vacuum to make sure a flat surface is maintained throughout the laser process.
After processing is complete, use a damp cloth to clean the two pieces. It is also a good idea to clean the back of the wooden ring so that the napkin does not get dirty later.
Keep the wooden napkin ring flat and glue the TroLase Foil about half off. Make sure that the overhanging half does not stick to the napkin by scoring and removing half the adhesive foil on the back with a craft knife. To finish, form a ring around a cloth napkin and secure it with the circular connector.
Experiment with different types of veneered wood or TroLase Foil colors to create different designs or to match an event theme.
You can use your Trotec laser and Trotec materials to create an entire table top or theme. See example in our DIYs.
