Case study of the small personalization business Rep'n My Hood
Formerly operating under the name, Mom With A Saw, Rep'n My Hood is a family-run business that specializes in producing personalized, high-quality goods, including customized tumblers, coasters and apparel. Located in the Tampa, Florida area, Rep'n My Hood is currently operating with a Speedy 300 80w laser system.
Before purchasing a Trotec laser system, Rep'n My Hood struggled to fulfill production orders. Initially, the company was producing handcrafted wood furniture and décor, but wanted to purchase equipment that made mass production an option. Originally, Nickole Davis, owner of Rep'n My Hood, was considering purchasing a CNC router to improve the cut quality and production volume of wood products. Davis quickly learned that a CNC router would limit the materials she could work with as well as product offerings. Soon after, Davis discovered Trotec Laser and scheduled a product demonstration with Jeff Jenkins, a local sales representative.
Initially, Rep'n My Hood was interested in purchasing a CNC router to improve cut quality and production volume. After learning the limitations of a CNC router, Nickole Davis began to research other options. During her research, Davis discovered Trotec and quickly found that a Trotec laser system would allow her to improve the quality of wood products as well as other materials. After receiving a product demonstration, she decided to purchase a Speedy 300 80w system. Since purchasing a Trotec laser system, Rep'n My Hood was able to graduate from a hobbyist, start-up company. They are now able to offer mass production of goods as well as an assortment of customized décor and gift items.
In addition to improving cut quality and production volume, Rep'n My Hood claims that owning a Trotec has expanded their customer base and visibility. Because of the limitless possibilities a Trotec can produce, Nickole Davis was able to rebrand her original company, Mom With A Saw, and drastically enhance product offerings. These new products have allowed her to expand marketing efforts to target more specialized markets.
