Michaelwerk adopts laser technology for stamp production

As a large institution in the Hanseatic and university city of Rostock, the protestant Michaelshof Foundation is one of the oldest social institutions in the city and surrounding area.

The Michaelwerk division includes workshops, support groups and the vocational training area for disabled people.
More than 600 handicapped people work and learn there, primarily in the laundry, carpentry, assembly, mailing, gardening, kitchen, and stamp and sign production departments.

Customers include courts, colleges and universities, local authorities, ministries, banks, as well as private individuals.

From photopolymore to laser

The original stamp production using the photopolymer process did not produce satisfactory results, so an alternative production technology was sought.

The close relationship with the stamp supplier Trodat led to Trotec Laser almost 10 years ago. It quickly became apparent that stamp production with the laser optimally covered the requirements.

"The quality of the machine and also of the products produced with it, as well as the service, but also the good feeling of having a total supplier where we not only get the technology but also materials in good quality, have in the meantime motivated us to purchase another laser from Trotec."

Increased productivity and additional processing options

Today, stamps at Michaelwerk are set using the CorelDraw graphics program, are engraved and cut on a Speedy 300 and a Speedy 100 laser engraving machine, and are then glued to the stamp body.
Even the finest details can now be engraved on the text plate.

The JobControl laser software supports this production, e.g. with an automated process and the "bar function".

At the same time, the laser enables the production of signs or the expansion of the range of laser engraving services.

"Stamp rubber, automatic stamping machines, engraving material and laser machines - all from a single source - that is convincing in handling."
