'Can & Can't' Materials

What materials can you engrave, cut & mark with your laser machine?

Contrary to popular belief, you can’t just pick up any material you feel like, whack it in your laser machine and hit ‘go’. There are a few variables to consider beforehand, some settings to tweak and some planning required. Here at Trotec, we urge you to carefully consider what materials you desire to engrave, cut or mark. Otherwise, you may be doing some serious damage to your machine, your supplies or maybe even yourself!

We are pleased to inform you that most materials out there can be laser engraved. You just need to ensure you don’t process anything that may contain toxic or damaging chemicals. This includes Carbon, PVC, PVB and anything that contains epoxy, phenolic resins or halogens (fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine and astatine).
