Preparation
Required material
- A desk pad made from either leather or recycled leather
Laser machine used
- Speedy 360
- 80 Watt with 2" lens
Important information
- Use the laser engraving table or the vacuum table for the best results

Step by step

Step 1: Import or create design template
mport our design template or your own design into the graphics program and adapt the size of the graphic to the size of your desk pad.
Print settings
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Black & White | - |
Step 2: Laser processing
Place the desk pad onto your laser engraving table and position the top left corner into the 0/0 point of the engraving table, then positon your job into the 0/0 point as well.
Laser Parameters:
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
black | engrave CO2 | 60 | 100 | 500 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | -2mm | High quality |
Important information:
- Due to the z-offset of 2 mm, the laser beam will be defocused and the lines will appear thicker and more intense than they do when in focus.

Step 3: Post-processing
As a natural product, leather tends to burn during laser engraving or cutting; as well as producing a particular smell. The cutting edges may also turn dark and stain during the process. Many types of leather can easily be cleaned, but it is important to test the cleaning solution on a test piece. It is worth trying to remove the smoke residue with a dry cloth. Should any residue remain try cleaning the leather with a damp cloth or an alcohol-based cleaner.
