Inspired by the 1950's, this tutorial uses materials such as acrylic and anodised aluminium to create a stand out application.


Preparation

Materials used:

  • Anodised Aluminium Nickel Silver matt 1.5mm, cut to 600x420mm with 4 rounded corners r=12mm
  • 1/4 sheet TroGlass Satins Light Pink with adhesive
  • 1/4 sheet TroGlass Satins Red with adhesive
  • 1/4 sheet TroGlass Colour Gloss White with adhesive
  • 1/4 sheet TroLase Pink/White 1,6mm with adhesive
  • 1 sheet Wood Veneer Bamboo with adhesive

Laser machine used:

  • Speedy 360
  • 80 watts
  • 2" lens
  • White acrylic cutting grid for TroGlass and TroLase
  • Aluminium Cutting Grid Table or Honeycomb for wood

Step by Step

Step 1: Import graphic file

Begin by importing our template and adapting it to your requirements. Send the individual graphics for each material to your laser using the driver settings below.

Step 2: Laser process acrylic

These parameters will vary depending on your laser machine and the available laser power.

Tip: Change the colour order in the material database so that the blue creasing line is cut before the red cutline.

Step 7: Assembly

Start by removing the protective foil from the aluminium sheet and glue the pink and red acrylic pieces to the top and bottom edge of the aluminium. Then add the wood components. After that place the TroLase and on top the TroGlass pieces above the cone. At last glue the "Ice Cream" lettering to the marked place on the pink acrylic. Your vintage ice cream sign is now completed.
