Flexible and Efficient Tool for Prototying

Lasers have proven themselves optimally suited for prototyping across a range of industries, principally on account of their incredible flexibility as a production and manufacturing tool. With a Trotec Speedy Flexx laser, users are not only capable of conducting new and cutting edge applications, but of completing them in a cost and time-effective manner. Recently, it has even become possible to cut and engrave a flexible printed circuit board in a single process step. The copper is engraved with the fiber laser, while the polyester is cut with CO₂. This allows for the easy and efficient production of prototypes of printed circuits boards.

Maxximum Flexxibility with the Speedy Flexx Series

Owing to its unque combination of two laser sources in a single machine, the Trotec Speedy Flexx series allows access to an endless list of applications in a quick and convenient way. Where the CO₂ laser source is the right tool for cutting and engraving plastics, wood, rubber, leather, etc. the Fiber is a perfect compliment, able to mark metals and plastics with ease. Depending on the material, the two laser sources are activated alternately, ensuring maximum "flexxibility" across all applications.

Trotec Speedy 100 Flexx at Opendot in Milan

The first FabLab was started in 2002 by Neil Gershenfeld at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Since then, FabLab has developed into a fast-growing, world-wide movement.
For the 2015 Fab Academy, Opendot Milan has incorporated a Trotec Speedy 100 flexx, which has already been put to use in the production of flexible printed circuit boards, and untold prototypes to come.
