Tips for Laser Cutting Textiles

“Can all materials be laser cut and engraved to the same exceptional quality?”

Synthetic fabrics respond exceptionally well to laser cutting. This is because the often contain different kinds of plastic, like polyester. The laser beam physically melts the polyester in a controlled and professional manner, leaving you with a fibre-free, sealed edge.

Marks on organic fabrics, including linen engraving and cotton cuts, are likely to develop a brownish or discoloured cutting edge. The operator can change and control this effect by selecting an appropriate lens and laser parameters. We always recommend testing a sample before processing your jobs.

Laserflexx – as easy as iron-on

‘Laserflexx’, a high-quality, multi-layered film, has been designed specifically for laser processing. You can now engrave and mark textiles with any design you want! Depending on your laser machine’s power and speed, the optimal laser setting will vary. We recommend processing from the bottom and work your way up while using the highest possible exhaust setting. This will mean that dust and debris produced while working will not damage the completed product.
